Is not impermanence the very fragrance of our days?
— Rilke

My story is ever changing, it's a living testament to what can happen when you relinquish the reins and serve with purpose, love and realness.

Sometimes life will pull you in a direction, just to give you an idea of where you need to go
— David Wagner

I started in non profit about 8 years ago. I graduated with a bachelors degree in chemistry and all I knew is that I didn't want to be stuck in a lab! I decided to search for my passion and landed a position in the not for profit world. It was a completely new experience. At this point I thought I would climb the (non profit) corporate ladder retire at 62.5 or get discovered at an audition and be the next Angela Bassett (acting is my first love!) It wasn't until I landed a gig as the training director for one of the nation's largest organization serving commercially sexually exploited youth that I found my second love - teaching. I loved hearing the "aha"- that moment of epiphany and complete shift in thought from my students.

Sometimes a change happens that shakes you from the roots and turns your world upside down
— Unknown

November 26, 2013 my mother died from what they say cancer. But I believe her physical form collapsed under the weight of medications, unaddressed trauma and lack of oxygen in the body. At this point I'd just to move to Brooklyn from a very unhealthy and toxic relationship. My world was literally upside down and I was struggling to come to terms with this new reality.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
— Unknown

For almost a year since the passing of my mother, I woke up with back pain. I'd had similar issues in the past but never this long and never this severe. it had gotten to the point that I would ease my legs over the bed first, slowing rising to stand.  I was 27... I couldn't image what 30 would look like.

I sat across from my co-worker one day, who happened to be in the midst of yoga teacher training herself... and said "I think I'm going to try yoga" she was absolutely ecstatic of course! I was like a fish out of water on my first class, but the next morning I woke up virtually pain free...oh shit- I was on to something. From then on I was hooked. I signed up to class pass and became a yoga nomad. Traveling from studio to studio, trying my best to find information and immerse myself in philosophy, origins and traditions. A few months later I found Abhaya Yoga and attended a retreat that changed my life. I laughed, cried and experience a non-judgmental community for the first time in my entire life.

The universe conspires to love us in infinite ways... and until we wake up to that we conjure infinite ways not to notice.
— James Fideler

I quit my job, enrolled in the 200 hour teacher training at Abhaya Yoga and here I stand to tell this story, to give it life and meaning. I welcome you here. I hope you get to stay a while.

OM Shanti. Namaste.
